S. Vijayanand Is New CEO Of Amara Raja Batteries

Amara Raja Batteries has informed BSE that the Board at its meeting held had appointed Mr. S. Vijayanand as Chief Executive Officer of the Company with effect from April 1, 2017. He will be handling day to day operations and expansion projects of the company and will be reporting to Mr. Jayadev Galla, vice chairman, and managing director. A press release said,” Mr, S. Vijayanand started his career in 1990 with a brief stint with Hindustan Unilever Limited as a research scientist and joined Amara Raja Batteries Limited in the year 1992. He had various position the Company in the areas of business leadership, strategic planning, new business development initiatives, technology development.project management etc. he held the position of ”Vice President- Industrial Batteries Division” in the company before he was moved as CEO of Amara Raja Power Systems Limited in 2011. He has been part of the start-up team that introduced the new generation VRLA battery technology in the country. he was also instrumental in design and development of the huge successful AMARON branded automotive batteries and was responsible for the technology transfer from Johnson Congtrols Inc of US. Mr. Vijayanand did his B. Tech Degree in Chemical Engineering from SVU College of Engineering Tirupati and M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He also had done a program in ”General Management and Leadership Development” from Indian Institute Management, Bangalore. Mr. Vijayanand is currently chairman of Battery Society of India and is actively promoting the adoption of new and emerging technologies in the field of renewable energy and alternative battery chemistries,” the release added.
