Jaipur: At least 35 people were injured, one of them critically, in Rajastna’s Karauli city while internet services were also suspended in the district after a stone-pelting incident was reported during a religious procession on Saturday.
Section 144 has been imposed in Karauli from 6.30 pm today and will remain in effect till 12 am on April 4, in connection with a case of stone-pelting at a ‘Shobha Yatra’ in the city.
Meanwhile, the internet was also shut down on April 2 and services will resume after 12 am, April 3.
While speaking to media, Karauli DM Rajendra Singh Shekhawat said the stone-pelting occurred during a bike rally for ‘Hindu Nav-Varsha’ today.

Around two dozen people injured. IG Bharatpur has reached Karauli; around 600 personnel were also assigned to the incident,” said Hawa Singh Ghumaria, IGP – Law & Order, Police HQ, Jaipur.
Many people were injured in the incident, of which 27 were treated and sent home, 10 are undergoing treatment in the hospital and 3 seriously injured were referred to Jaipur. The injured were admitted to the District General Hospital.
He also said, “A 100% curfew imposed in Karauli and directions are that violators must not be spared. ADG & DIG from the Police HQs have been sent. A big number of DySP also sent. Currently, the situation’s under control; a few shops were set afire which are being brought under control.”
The current situation is normal, the situation has been controlled, the shops which are on fire in the streets are being extinguished and appeal is being made to all to maintain peace, confirmed a police officer.
