The Ancient Times
Report by:Pradip Bhattacharya
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today won the floor test with the support of 22 MLAs.Three MLAs from Goa Forward, Three MLAs from MGP, two MLAs from Independents and 13 from the BJP party. Congress failed to match its own number of 17 as Vishwajit Rane abstained from voting.
As Congress failed to form the government, there was dissent in the Congress camp and many had blamed the central leadership of Congress in Delhi for not moving in the direction to make a claim to form the government. A congress leader Vishwajit Rane who had abstained from the trust vote claimed that this is the first step of rebellion against the Congress. He also stated that Congress should have formed an alliance on the night of 11 March itself. He had blamed that the congress manner of handling the affairs in Goa had led to this condition in Goa.
A senior Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane said the Congress will never give up and they will continue fighting. He said that The congress has the support of people with them”. The only option lies now before Congress if Congress can pull down BJP by bringing independent MLAs to their side anytime. They have five years time from now to do the same.
It may be noted that Parrikar took oath as the Goa CM for the fourth time on March 11 with eight MLAs. Goa Governor Mridula Sinha administered the oath of office to Parrikar at the Raj Bhavan.
