Nationwide Lockdown extension: Will there be respite for Agricultural sector?

Owing to the sudden upsurge in the coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Modi, addressed the nation yesterday at 10am IST in the morning, stating the urgent need to extend the lockdown till 3rd May’2020, in order to curb the spreading of the pandemic. Let us note this, that despite a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, the cases were on a sharp rise, thus leading to the further extension.

However noticing the condition of the daily wage labourers owing to the lockdown, Modi has initiated that the lockdown will be relaxed for the Agricultural sector, as it is becoming exceedingly difficult for the daily wage labourers to earn a living and earn money.

Thus, the agricultural sector is most likely to commence after 20th April. Similarly the inter state transportation that requires the transport of goods via the Highway will be permitted.

To sum up, the industries operating in the rural areas, will be allowed to be functional following strict social distancing norms. We fully support the agenda of the government and the steps it is taking to actively curb the pandemic.

The Ancient Times

Because we’re journalists, we’re impatient. We want to gather the news as quickly as possible, using any technological resource available. And when we’re as sure of the story as we can be, we want to share it immediately, in whatever way reaches the most people. The Internet didn’t plant these ideas in our heads. We’ve always been this way.
