Karunanidhi’s health condition is extremely critical and unstable, Kauvery Hospital says
CHENNAI: The health condition of DMK president M Karunanidhi has declined significantly over the last few hours, said a medical bulletin issued by Kauvery Hospital here on Tuesday.
“Despite maximum medical support, his vital organ functions continue to deteriorate. His condition is extremely critical and unstable,” said the bulletin issued by hospital executive director Dr Aravindan Selvaraj. It was issued at 4.30pm.
On Monday night, the hospital issued a bulletin stating that there had been a decline in the medical condition of the 94-year-old former Tamil Nadu chief minister.
“Maintaining his vital organ function continues to remain a challenge considering his age-related ailments. He is on continuous monitoring and is being treated with active medical support. His response to the medical intervention over the next 24 hours will determine the prognosis,” it said.
On Tuesday afternoon, Karunanidhi’s son and party working president M K Stalin led a delegation of family members and senior leaders to Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s official residence on Greenways Road in Chennai. Sources said Stalin had briefed the chief minister on his father’s health condition.
Stalin was accompanied by his older brother M K Alagiri, his sister Kanimozhi, his brother-in-law ‘Murasoli’ Selvam and senior leaders T R Baalu and I Periyasamy. The meeting lasted 15 minutes.
