Bengaluru: Busted! Academy of fake degrees MBA graduate held for running markscard racket

BENGALURU: Police have busted a markscard racket allegedly being run by a 30-year-old

MBA graduate. They have recovered hundreds of bogus markscards of a Chhattisgarh varsity and fake answerscripts of Mangalore University from his office in Koramangala.

The kingpin, Arjun A, a resident of Koramangala who’s from Rangareddy district in Telangana, is in police custody. Koramangala police said he came to Bengaluru after he completed his MBA in Hyderabad and worked as a business development manager with various study centres here. After learning the ropes in running the distance-education business, Arjun started his own firm, Good Guide Academy, in 2016 and realised that he could earn easy money by selling fake markscards.

“We raided the office based on credible information on September 20 and seized hundreds of markscards in the name of Dr CV Raman University, Bilaspur, and answerscripts belonging to Mangalore University. Arjun confessed to having sold at least 300 fake markscards in three years,” a police officer said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that he used to sell BSc, BCom, BCA, MBA markscards. He used to give two options to distance-education aspirants approaching him — enrol with any university, follow the procedure and appear for the examination by paying Rs 11,000 as annual fee or get markscards in three months by paying Rs 45,000 without appearing for any exam.

“We have collected data on all those who purchased markscards from him. We will verify their background and find out what they have done with the markscards. We are trying to trace his associates, if any,” another police officer said.

The Ancient Times

Because we’re journalists, we’re impatient. We want to gather the news as quickly as possible, using any technological resource available. And when we’re as sure of the story as we can be, we want to share it immediately, in whatever way reaches the most people. The Internet didn’t plant these ideas in our heads. We’ve always been this way.
