Alongside the iPhones 2018, Apple is also working on new iPads for this year. So far, we have already heard a lot about the three iPhones that Apple is prepping up to launch at its keynote event this year, but, not much is known about the upcoming iPads. But now, finally, some important information regarding the iPads 2018 have surfaced online. The key highlight of the 2018 iPads will be the thin bezels and no headphone jack.
Yes, Apple is apparently planning to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack for the iPads 2018. This bit of information comes from a Japanese website called Macotakara. In 2018, Apple is planning to launch two new iPads. The base model will reportedly come with a 10.5-inch display, while the top-end version will boast of 12.9-inch screen.
The report suggests that the upcoming iPads will have their dimensions reduced on all sides. Meaning, the iPads 2018 will be almost bezel-less and leave the thick borders on the sides. The dimensions of the 10.5-inch display iPad will be 247.5 x 178.7 x 6mm down from 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1mm. The 12.9-inch iPad, on the other hand, will boast of much thinner bezels than the 10.5-inch iPad. The dimensions of the 12.9-inch iPad will have 280 x 215 x 6.4mm down from 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9mm.
Another important information that the Japanese website reveals that the iPads 2018 will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack. Now, that is a great news for some, while some may not like it. Apple is apparently working hard to not include the headphone jack on the upcoming iPads. However, it is important to note that the upcoming iPhones will come with the 3.5mm headphone jack, this is what the rumours say. In addition, the Smart Connectors on the new iPads will be moved to the lower rear side of the devices
As far as the design of the upcoming iPads is concerned, both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch display iPads will look a lot like the iPhone X. At least from the front panel. The iPads 2018 will sport will come with an edge-to-edge display.
iPads 2018 will come with iPhone X’s advanced face recognition tech, a previously leaked report revealed. This means the users will be able to unlock their iPads just by looking at the screen of the device. That being said, this will be first time that an iPad will have a Face ID support.
