Acclaimed Bollywood Director Rajat Mukherjee Passes Away In Jaipur To Prolonged Illness

On Sunday Bollywood recorded another death, this time of acclaimed film director Rajat Mukherjee who was known for movie Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and Road. He died in Jaipur due to prolonged illness.

Actor Manjo Bajpayee took to microblogging platform Twitter to give his condolences. “My friend and director of Road, Rajat Mukherjee passed away in the early hours in Jaipur after a long battle with illness!!! Rest in peace, Rajat. Still can’t believe that we will never meet or discuss our work ever again. Khush reh jaha bhi reh,” he twitted.

Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (2001) actress Urmila Matondkar, who starred with Fardeen Khan, also expressed grieve. “Saddened to hear sad demise of my friend and director of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya Rajat Mukherjee. A talented and live wire personality who made this rare gem of a film. Deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace, dear friend,” she said.

Anubhav Sinha, director, said Rajat was dealing with multiple health situations over the past few months in Jaipur. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta also shared a few good times with the late director. “Rajat Mukherjee was a friend from our early, early struggles in Bombay. Many meals, many bottles of Old Monk consumed. Many more to consume in another world. Will miss you dear friend,” he said.
