In the wake of the global pandemic of COVID-19, many nations are seen succumbing to the widespread viral infections. Death toll is sharply rising, with having over 1.39 million cases worldwide and over 79,091 deaths worldwide, the pandemic seems to be difficult to be curbed easily. India, alone has 124 deaths with the number of active cases rising up to 5000 mark. The government has declared containment of certain zones in different states. The lockdown has been imposed upon the entire country in order to contain the disease and prevent its further burst. However looking at a global picture, the US is having a rough time as it’s population is staggering and the death toll is rising sharply. In an aggressive bid to help the nation recover president Trump has almost threatened India of serious consequences if it refuses to provide the supply of Hydroxychloroquine, a drug according to a recent French study has the potential to cure the COVID-19. The usage of the word retaliation can be considered as a strain as US’s desperation and agony is clearly being reflected. India, however has agreed to supply Hydroxychloroquine in generous and appropriate amounts to all its neighbouring nations in order to stand in solidarity in the wake of this dreadful outbreak of coronavirus. The matter has been strictly been prohibited against been politicised as India is doing its bit in order to stand with the other nations in solidarity against the virus.
Also, an Indian American based pharmaceutical company run by the philanthropic billionaires, Chirag and Chintu Patel pledged a donation of a generous amount of the drug amounting to 3.4mn. The drug Hydroxychloroquine which is majorly used in the treatment of Malaria and Lupus, is said to be effective against the coronavirus.
